Car navigation update for Kia vehicles means installing new maps on your system so that it displays new roads, roundabouts and speed limits again. We have Kia „AVN USB”, „Turn by Turn” and Sportage map sets. On this page you will find which version suits which models, how to recognise outdated maps and what to bring with you.

For the general map update procedure, read the navigation map update page.

  • How much does a Kia map update cost? The price depends on the model and the map version. We tell you the exact amount before starting work. The maps come with a 12-month warranty.
  • Which Kia models do you update? Ceed and Venga from 2009, Sorento and Sportage from 2010, Rio, as well as various Kia models up to 2010 with the „Turn by Turn” system.
  • Where do you update Kia navigation? We update Kia maps in Vilnius and Kaunas.
  • What should I bring for the update? Know your car’s model and year, bring the system’s USB drive or other storage medium if you have one, and the PIN code if the system asks for it.

How to tell that your Kia maps are already outdated

Here are the signs that your Kia maps are outdated or that the update is failing.

01from 49 €

Kia navigation does not know the new roads

WhyThe maps were installed several years ago, and in that time new roads, bypasses and intersections have been built. The system works, but the data is old.

Check it yourselfIn the system settings, look up the map version or date and write it down.

What we doWe install the map version that suits your model.

02from 49 €

Kia Sportage navigation update fails

WhyThe map files may not be suitable for your Sportage’s year or system version. In that case the system does not detect them or asks for a code.

Check it yourselfCheck the car’s year of manufacture and the system name on the screen.

What we doWe select the map set intended for the Sportage and install it.

03

Navigation does not detect the USB drive or SD card

WhyThe format of the storage medium may not match the system’s requirements, the files may be corrupted or the card may already be worn out.

Check it yourselfTry another storage medium and check that it is properly inserted into the slot.

What we doWe check the storage medium and rewrite the map files.

04

Kia navigation asks for a PIN code

WhyAfter the battery is disconnected or after an update, the system may ask for a security code that the owner no longer remembers.

Check it yourselfLook through the car’s documents and service book – sometimes the code is written there.

What we doWe discuss how this code can be found, and then continue with the update.

05from 59 €

An older Kia with „Turn by Turn” shows only main roads

WhyBefore 2010, for some Kia models the maps were distributed on a dozen or so CDs by region. If only the main-roads set is installed, small streets will not appear.

What we doWe select the required region, for example the Eastern Europe CD with detailed Lithuania.

Navigation freezes or sometimes switches off

WhyThe cause may be a software error, corrupted map files or a hardware fault. This becomes clear only after the system is checked.

Check it yourselfSwitch the car’s ignition off and on again; if the problem keeps recurring, stop loading the system.

What we doWe run diagnostics, tell you the cause and the price, and carry out repairs only with your consent.

What people mistakenly believe about Kia navigation updates

  • Myth. Any map file will work for any Kia. In reality. Maps differ by model, year and system type. An unsuitable set will not start the system or will leave the old data in place.
  • Myth. If the navigation is outdated, the entire multimedia unit has to be replaced. In reality. In most cases it is enough to update the maps. A new unit is only needed when the hardware itself is faulty.
  • Myth. Phone navigation completely replaces the original system. In reality. A phone is convenient, but the original system shows the route on the car’s screen and works without a mobile connection. We discuss the differences in our article on car navigation systems.

Which Kia models and systems the update suits

„AVN USB” maps are intended for the Kia Ceed and Venga from 2009, the Sorento and Sportage from 2010, and the Rio. The set includes many European countries, among them Lithuania with a detailed road network, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Germany.

A separate Sportage set is intended for the Kia Sportage from 2010 and covers an even wider list of countries, for example the Balkans and Turkey. For older Kia models up to 2010, we have „Turn by Turn” maps divided into regions.

  • Eastern Europe set 1 – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania with a detailed road network
  • Eastern Europe set 2 – Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and others
  • Separate CDs for Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia
  • Maps of Europe’s main roads

Before calling, write down the model, year of manufacture and system name – then we can tell you more quickly which set is suitable.

When updating the maps is enough

If the system works and the only problem is outdated maps, it is worth updating the maps first.

If the system is malfunctioning due to a fault, we first carry out diagnostics for 10 €. The fault is identified within 1–2 business days, and we tell you the price and agree on it with you before the repair.

If you are travelling abroad, update the maps before the trip, not on the road.
