What people confuse about Lexus maps

Myth. The maps update themselves. In reality. Older Lexus systems don’t do this – the map stays as it was recorded until you replace it.
Myth. A phone app completely replaces the car’s navigation. In reality. A phone is convenient, but built-in navigation shows the map on the car’s screen and doesn’t depend on a connection. Both options have their own advantages.
Myth. Any disc will work as long as it is new. In reality. The set must match the system generation. An unsuitable map simply won’t be read.
Myth. Replacing the maps will bring new features. In reality. Only the road data is replaced. An old system won’t gain new features, such as real-time traffic jam information.

Which Lexus map sets are available

The sets are divided by system generation, not by model name. The years depend on the system and the model, so below is only what is stated in the list:

TNS600, TNS700 – various Lexus models 2004–2010; Europe set of three CDs (detailed Lithuania on CD 2) or Baltic states and Russia.
HDD system – Lexus RX 2008–2012; detailed Lithuania and the whole of Europe.
Gen 5 (Denso 2.4X) – LS, ES, RX, GS 2007–2009, IS 2006–2009.
Gen 4 (Denso 2.4X) – LS, ES 2004–2006, SC 2005–2009, RX and GX 2005–2006, LX 2004–2007, GS 2006.
Gen 2 and Gen 3 (Denso 2.3) – GS, IS, RX, LS, ES, LX, SC, GX 2001–2005; Eastern and Central Europe with detailed Lithuania.

How to tell that a map is out of date

The oldest sign is the car driving across a field even though the road was built long ago. Other signs: new roundabouts and bypasses are not shown, old speed limits are used, and the suggested route takes you through a prohibited turn.

Most of the sets on the list include detailed Lithuania, but CD 1 from the Europe set, for example, does not cover it – it contains only Western and Southern Europe. Also, a map ends at the point when it was created, and over ten years the road network changes considerably.

What to bring for a maps consultation

The system type is usually determined by the model and year, so bring the car documents where they are shown. If you have original map discs or a memory card, bring them, and write down the PIN code (if the system asks for one) in advance.

Yes, the systems of these generations use maps from stored data, so no connection is needed. They do not show real-time traffic jams.

Is the navigation available in Lithuanian?

Lithuania is detailed in the maps (except on those CDs that do not include it), but the system language is determined by the equipment itself. For a specific model, call us for advice.
