How to tell that your Fiat navigation map is out of date

You will most often notice it on the road rather than on the screen – here are the typical signs.

01

Fiat navigation does not show new roads

WhyThe map was installed several years ago, and new roads, roundabouts and bypasses are simply not on it.

Check it yourselfCompare the route with your phone – if they differ, the map is most likely out of date.

What we doWe install a new map set for the relevant region on your system.

02

The navigation shows that I am driving across a field

WhyThe car is driving on a new road that is not on the map.

What we doWe update the map; if the error persists, diagnostics are required.

03

The map of another country is missing

WhyThe regional sets are separate, and only one can be installed at a time.

Check it yourselfCheck which region your current set is intended for.

What we doWe select and install the set for the countries you need.

0410 €

The navigation does not read the map media

WhyThe media may be damaged or the map file may not be recognised.

Check it yourselfCheck that the media is suitable for your system and clean.

What we doWe perform initial diagnostics to determine whether the map or the device is at fault.

05

It asks for a code after the update

WhySome systems ask for a PIN code after installation.

What we doWe discuss with our technicians why the system is asking for a code and how to resolve it.

What people get wrong about car maps

  • Myth. Once a map is installed, it stays valid forever. In fact. Roads change constantly, so without an update the navigation starts to make mistakes after a few years.
  • Myth. You need to buy a map of the whole of Europe. In fact. Maps are divided into regions, so you can choose only the countries you drive in.
  • Myth. If the map is outdated, the navigation is broken. In fact. An outdated map and a malfunction are different things. Diagnostics come first, so that we can determine whether the map or the device is at fault.

Fiat navigation maps: which systems and regions we update

Maps are divided into regional sets, so you don’t have to pay for the whole of Europe. Usually Lithuania and the countries relevant to your trips are enough.

Lithuania is covered in detail in the set together with Estonia, Latvia, Belarus and Ukraine. The other sets are for Western, Southern and Northern Europe.

  • Connect G2/DB3: Fiat Bravo (2007.02–2011), Croma (2007–2009), Idea (2008–2011), Ulysse (2005–2007)
  • RT4/RT5: Fiat Ulysse (2007–2010), Scudo (2009–2013)
  • Baltic states, Belarus, Ukraine (Lithuania in detail) – one set
  • Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary – a separate set
  • Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, Great Britain and Ireland, Benelux, the Balkans – other sets

If you don’t know which system is installed, tell us the car model and year – the system is determined from them. If you are unsure, you can call first to get advice.

A technician updates the car's navigation maps

Is it worth updating an old Fiat navigation system

If the usual screen and controls suit you, they stay the same after the map update – only the road data changes.

If the navigation itself freezes, no longer reads the media or won’t turn on, diagnostics come first, so that we can determine whether the map or the device is at fault.

What to have before updating your Fiat navigation

  • The car, or a message with the model and year
  • The map media you have, if any
  • A note of which countries’ maps you need
  • Your most important saved addresses written down

Frequently asked questions about Fiat navigation

How do I update my car’s navigation?

First you need to know the system (Connect G2/DB3 or RT4/RT5) and choose the regions. We will tell you how to do this for your car when you bring it in or if you call to get advice first.

Will my settings be kept after the update?

A map update primarily changes the road data, but our technicians will tell you the exact effect on your system. It is worth writing down important saved addresses in advance.

Can I use my phone instead of the Fiat navigation?

You can use a phone, but it is a different system from the one built into the car. If you want the map to work on the Fiat screen, the maps of the built-in navigation are updated.

Is my Fiat model not on your list?

The models listed on this page are those from our list. If yours is not there, you can get advice by phone – we will tell you whether we can help.
