Seat navigation repair and map updates involve working with factory-fitted RNS Mediasystem and DNS DX units. On this page you will find which Seat system versions we have maps for, how to recognise an outdated map and what to prepare before you come in. You can find the general map update procedure on the main navigation page.

We update Seat maps in Vilnius and Kaunas, and we provide a 12-month warranty for map updates. If the navigation is not just outdated but also freezes or does not read the disc, that is a fault rather than an update issue – we diagnose such a unit first.

  • How much does a Seat map update cost? The price depends on the system version. We tell you the price in advance, before starting work, and we work only with your consent.
  • What warranty do you provide? We provide a 12-month warranty on map updates. Repair work is also covered by a warranty.
  • In which cities do you update Seat maps? In Vilnius and Kaunas. There are also service points in Klaipėda and Šiauliai; for Seat maps there, please call and ask for advice.

What these Seat navigation symptoms mean

People most often ask about outdated maps, but genuine faults do occur too.

01

Seat navigation shows an old map

WhyThe map data has not been updated for several years, while the road network has changed. Sometimes a disc or card from the wrong system has been inserted.

Check yourselfWrite down the system name from the menu and the map version, if it is displayed.

What we doWe identify the RNS or DNS version and install the appropriate maps.

Seat navigation does not read the disc

WhyMost often the disc reader is worn or the disc is scratched. Sometimes the disc simply does not match the system version.

Check yourselfCheck that the disc is for your system version and that it is not visibly scratched.

What we doDuring diagnostics we check the reader and the disc, and we agree the scope and price of the repair before starting work.

Seat navigation does not show my location

WhyThe GPS signal may be lost, the antenna may be damaged, or there may be a software error in the system.

Check yourselfDrive to an open area without buildings and wait a few minutes.

What we doWe check the antenna connection and the system software, then tell you whether a software solution is enough.

04

Seat navigation does not detect the map card

WhyThe card may be damaged or may not match the system version.

Check yourselfDo not format the card yourself – you may lose the map data.

What we doWe check the card and the system and, if necessary, install suitable maps.

Seat navigation screen freezes or restarts on its own

WhyIt may be a software error, a memory problem or a faulty unit. This occurs more often in older systems.

What we doWe run diagnostics and tell you whether a software solution is enough or the unit needs to be repaired.

How much do Seat navigation updates and repairs cost

We give the map update price according to the system version, and the fault repair price after diagnostics.

What people mistakenly believe about Seat navigation systems

  • Myth. Any Seat map disc will work. In fact. Discs and cards differ by system version, so the wrong set may not be recognized by the system.
  • Myth. If the navigation does not work, updating the map is enough. In fact. A map update solves the problem of outdated data. If the system does not read the disc or freezes, diagnostics are needed first.
  • Myth. A phone app completely replaces the factory navigation. In fact. A phone app is convenient, but the factory system has its own maps and is integrated into the car’s screen. Which one suits you depends on your needs.

Which Seat navigation systems we have maps for

Maps differ both by storage medium and by country coverage, so before quoting a price we first find out which system version you have.

On this page we have information about the Seat Altea, Ibiza and Toledo (from 2009/03) and about RNS and DNS systems in general. For the Leon, Ateca or Arona, please call and consult with us – we will then determine whether we can help.

  • RNS Mediasystem (DVD) – maps on two discs: Western, Southern and part of Northern Europe (CD 1), and Eastern and Central Europe with detailed Lithuania (CD 2).
  • RNS Mediasystem 2.0 – the same two parts, and for older versions there is an extended set of up to 13 discs (Altea, Ibiza, Toledo from 2009/03).
  • RNS Mediasystem 2.1 / 2.2 – the system runs from the internal HDD, and the maps are supplied in two sets (SD 1 and SD 2).
  • DNS DX – a set of discs CD 1–CD 10, including the main European roads.

The system name can usually be seen when you switch on the navigation or in the menu – take a photo of the screen and show it to the technician.

How to tell that your Seat map is outdated

Outdated navigation does not show itself right away: at first it simply starts guiding you along strange routes. Over a few years the road network and roundabouts change so much that the discrepancies become obvious.

Another sign is that the system cannot find new streets or shows that you are driving across a field.

Cars from Volkswagen and Škoda also have similar systems, but the map sets differ by system version, so a disc or card for one model does not always fit another.
