Opel navigation maps are updates for systems ranging from the older CD and DVD ones (for example, Astra H, Vectra C, Zafira B) to NAVI 600 / 900 (Astra J, Mokka, Insignia). On this page you will find which systems we update, how to recognise an outdated map and what to bring. You can find general information about all manufacturers on the navigation map update page.

The most important thing is the right map version. Several different editions may fit cars under the single name “Astra J”, so we look at the system type, the year and sometimes the VIN code.

  • How much does an update cost? We give the exact price based on your system and model. Initial diagnostics cost 10 €, and work is carried out only with your consent.
  • What warranty is provided? Opel map updates come with a 12-month warranty.
  • Which systems do you update? DVD90, CD70 / CARiN, DVD100, Siemens NCDR / NCDC, Delfi CD60 / CD80, CD500 / DVD800 and NAVI 600 / 900.
  • How long does it take? We identify the system type and possible faults within 1–2 business days. We agree on the timeframe before starting work.

What these Opel navigation symptoms mean

Often the problem is not a fault but an outdated map. Here is what it looks like day to day.

01from 45 €

Opel navigation shows an old map

WhyThe map has not been updated for several years, and the system does not do it by itself. New roundabouts and new streets simply do not exist in it.

Check it yourselfCheck in the system menu which map version and year are indicated.

What we doWe identify the system type and install the correct map version.

02from 45 €

Opel Insignia navigation update fails

WhyThe Insignia 10/2008–08/2011 has different CD500 / DVD800 editions. An incorrect version or a non-matching VIN can stop the installation.

Check it yourselfWrite down the VIN code – the 10th character indicates the model year.

What we doBased on the VIN, we select the appropriate version and update it.

03from €45

Opel Astra J and Meriva B – which version fits

WhyUntil August 2011, CD500 / DVD800 is used, and after that – NAVI 600 / 900. There are no visible differences in appearance.

Check it yourselfLook at which logo is displayed when the system is switched on, and take a photo of it.

What we doWe identify the system and install the maps designed for it.

04from 30 €

Opel Mokka or Zafira navigation freezes

WhyMost often it is outdated software or corrupted data in the memory. Sometimes the cause is an incorrectly installed update.

Check it yourselfTurn off the ignition, wait a minute and switch the system on again. Do not disconnect the battery or open the device – that is done by the technician.

What we doWe reinstall the software and update the map.

05from 15 €

Navigation does not accept the SD card or disc

WhyThe card may be in an unsuitable format, and a disc is often not read because of a worn laser reader.

Check it yourselfRemove the card and insert it again. Do not clean the disc or the reader with sharp objects.

What we doWe check the card or disc and, if necessary, repair the reader.

06from 30 €

Opel navigation asks for a code or cannot find GPS

WhyAfter the battery is disconnected, some systems ask for a security code. Weak GPS reception may be caused by the antenna contact or outdated software.

Check it yourselfCheck whether you have the code in the car documents or the manual. Leave disconnecting the battery and opening the system to the technician.

What we doWe diagnose the cause and tell you what is needed – a code, an antenna check or a software update.

What people confuse about Opel navigation

  • Myth. It is enough to buy any “Astra” map. In reality. The Astra H and Astra J use different systems, and the Astra J has several editions inside. A map that suits one is usually not recognised by the other.
  • Myth. After a map update, the system will become faster. In reality. The update changes road data, but not the processor speed. Slowness is more often determined by the age of the system.
  • Myth. Phone navigation always replaces the original. In reality. A phone app often needs an internet connection, while the original system works without it and is integrated with the car’s screen.
  • Myth. An old system cannot be updated. In reality. Many old CD and DVD systems can still be updated, if the exact type is known.

Is it worth updating an old Opel navigation

If the system works but does not know newer roads, an update may cost less than a new head unit or integrated navigation. The lack of new roundabouts and highways becomes a real inconvenience.

When the system is older, we say it frankly: if the disc or reader is damaged, it is sometimes wiser to choose another solution. We write more about the options in the article about car navigation systems.

Before you come, write down the model year and the VIN code – this shortens the system identification.

Frequently asked questions about Opel maps

Do you update the navigation of the Opel Vivaro?

Yes, the list includes two Vivaro groups: 2000–2006.07 (Siemens system) and 09/2006–05/2010 (CD70 / CARiN). Newer Vivaro models are not on the list.

Can the navigation of the Opel Meriva B be updated?

Yes. The Meriva B has a CD500 / DVD800 (06/2010–08/2011) or NAVI 600 / 900 (2011/08–2016) system.

Is a VIN code needed to update an Insignia?

For CD500 / DVD800 versions – yes: the 10th character of the VIN indicates the model year (B – MY2011, 9 or A – MY2009/2010) and helps select the right version.

Is Lithuania shown in detail?

Most of the map sets on the list (DVD90, CD70, DVD100, CD500 / DVD800, NAVI 600 / 900) include Lithuania (detailed). Lithuania is not included in the Siemens sets on the list.

Are map updates and repair the same thing?

No. An update replaces the data, while a repair fixes the hardware. You can find other manufacturers on the main navigation page.
